Houston Restaurant Weeks is known for bringing diners together while supporting the Houston Food Bank. But a new upfront $1,000 donation requirement has made participation more difficult for some small, locally owned restaurants.

Some restaurants are finding other ways to give back including supporting charities that are meaningful to them.
