Why are So Many Cars FWD? While most Early Cars were RWD and I personally subscribe to RWD being best Wheel Drive, the reality is most average commuters and Car Companies prefer FWD.
FWD has weight over the front wheels, so it’s better for low traction scenarios like rain or snow.
FWD saves the customer on Fuel Economy while also being easy to design and engineer, allowing it to be cheaply produced by several Car Manufacturers, resulting in it being the most preferential layout for most Economy Cars Nowadays.
