Here we look at just how amazing shuffling a deck of cards can be. Just a fun observation!
At first glance, considering how many games have been played with a deck of cards and how often those cards are shuffled, we might expect for those shuffles to have 'already happened' previously.
So for example, suppose I shuffle my deck and then start flipping over cards to see:
Ace (Hearts), Eight (Hearts), Three (Spades),.... etc
It almost seems reasonable that over the course of human civilization, either someone has shuffled and had that same sequence of cards OR given how many games are played online, that again the shame shuffle has occured.
WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLL...... it turns out that the probability of that actually happening is almost zero.
So, anytime you shuffle a deck of cards you can almost be certain that no one has ever held that same initial configuration of cards before.
