Power shifting is just like regular shifting in a manual transmission, but you never lift your foot off the gas pedal - clutch goes in and out, while your right foot remains planted and the gear shift is executed. The problem is if you keep the gas pedal down while shifting, your engine RPM goes up, but your transmission wants a lower RPM, so this discrepancy is handled by the clutch, creating a shock load within the system.
