Why are millions of players still waiting for The Elder Scrolls VI after more than 15 years?
After recently finishing Gothic Remake, I finally realized why. Despite all the criticism Bethesda has received over the years, no other studio has managed to create a fantasy RPG that truly replaces Skyrim.
In this video, I compare Skyrim with games like Gothic Remake, The Witcher 3, Baldur's Gate 3, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Blood of Dawnwalker, and Crimson Desert, and explain why I believe Skyrim is still the benchmark for open-world fantasy RPGs.
We discuss:
Why Skyrim still feels unique after all these years
Why Gothic Remake offers a completely different experience
The biggest difference between Skyrim and The Witcher 3
Why Baldur's Gate 3 isn't really Skyrim's competitor
Why Bethesda has been able to take so long developing TES VI
Why millions of players are still excited for the next Elder Scrolls
These are my personal thoughts after spending thousands of hours in Skyrim and hundreds of hours in modern RPGs.
Do you agree that Skyrim still has no true successor?
