Everyone wants views and subscribers but more views is not always better. More views can actually hurt your channel.

What you want is more views and high audience retention from the right people. You don’t want people to click your videos just to leave after one minute. That will only signal to YouTube that the content you’re creating isn’t worth watching.

10 views from the right people can be much better than 100 views from the wrong people. Finding your audience can also help YouTube know who to show your content to and that is when you your channel will start to grow, when your content gets shown to the right people. Not when you ask your friends and family watch it to “support” you.
