95% of the people that are colorblind are male. Males are much more likely to be colorblind compared to females. The majority of color deficiencies are inherited through an x-linked gene. Most of these people that are color blind have red-green deficiencies. People usually have anomalous trichromacy, with one of the color vision cones not working as it should. It's rare to have dichromacy, when one cone is missing, and even more rare to not see color at all. This video explains the genetics of color blindness and the different types of color blindness.
