Matthew Shepard's parents kept his ashes for 20 years because they feared his grave would be desecrated. In 2018 he was interred at the National Cathedral, near Helen Keller. His mother Judy asked that his plaque include braille, so visitors who come to honor Helen Keller can read Matthew's story too.
