Shum is a song presented by Ukranian band Go_A at Eurovision 2021. The song faired well in the competition. It was the second most voted track by the audience and arriving 5th overall.

In this video, I discuss the musical aspects which make Shum unique. I focus on the clever use of tempo changes, which is quite unusual for similar techno tracks.

In the process, you can also learn how to extract tempo curves using Python and librosa.
