Iโm at Meinl in Germany with my friend Steve Roxx, and today weโre checking out the Ibanez GRX120SP-VRD, one of the most affordable Ibanez guitars in 2024. If youโre into red guitars, this is one of the reddest guitars Iโve ever seenโred body, red headstock, red back, even a red-painted neck (which might be divisive).
For just โฌ225, itโs got a comfortable neck, a double humbucker setup, and a tremolo bridge, but hereโs the dealโthe tuners need an upgrade, and the trem isnโt the most stable. If youโre a beginner, you might want to block the trem or swap it out. That said, the factory setup is incredibleโlow action, great playability, and solid QC thanks to Ibanezโs German inspection process.
Sound-wise? Itโs a solid rock machine, but if you want to upgrade, you can swap out the stock pickups for something punchier. If youโre after an affordable modding platform, this could be a great stage guitar for under โฌ300 with a few tweaks.
