Why is sad music so addictive? Why does sad art feel so good? Today, I wanted to break down this paradox, exploring why sad music is so enjoyable and cathartic for so many. We'll explore why sad music has become so dominant since the 2000s, why Gen Z loves to indulge in "Sad Aesthetics", and how creating art based on trauma can transform it into something we can appreciate and accept, instead of something to avoid and suppress. We’ll touch on the dangers of indulging too much in sad music and art and how capitalism has commodified and in some ways even promoted mental illness for profit. We’ll also explore psychology and mental health, breaking down how sad music can become a way to transcend our trauma and express our wounds in a safe, controlled way, and how that can help us truly heal. By the end of this video, you'll hopefully have a better understanding of why "Sad Culture" is on the rise and why music is becoming more sad in general as mental illness rises across the world.
