If you're a new rider, intersections are the most dangerous place you'll ride, and this video shows you exactly why and how to handle them. I break down a new rider who dumped his Honda Rebel making a simple left turn, why intersections are where most motorcycle crashes happen thanks to left turners and riders going in too hot, and the one distinction that keeps you safe: the difference between a relevant threat, like a car sitting at the intersection, and an active threat, like that same car pulling out with its blinker already on. The moment a relevant threat becomes active, you have to do something, and you only have three options: brake, swerve, or accelerate. I walk through it all using the PLAN method: position for safety with a good line of sight and an escape path, locate hazardous situations like intersections, assess relevant threats, and navigate active threats. These are the intersection and new rider tips the MSF course doesn't have time to fully cover, and the braking skill behind them is something you build in a parking lot before you ever need it. If you want the full system that takes a new rider from the basics to a complete, confident rider, check out the SMART Rider Motorcycle Training System → Riding-SMART.com/Motorcycle-Training-System
