Wood, Bone, Horn Guitar Picks | Can You Hear the Difference?
In this video, I explore the unique tonal qualities of six different thick guitar picks made from wood, bone, and horn. As someone who usually prefers a 1mm celluloid pick for a cleaner, dynamic sound, I wanted to address a question from our Guitar Wisdom community about how these heavier materials affect your tone and playing experience.
I’ll be demonstrating each pick using my 1992 Fender Stevie Ray Vaughan Signature Stratocaster through a variety of setups: 1966 Fender Pro Reverb amp.
Clean Tone: Front pickup for pure, natural resonance.
Bluesy Overdrive: Using my Ibanez Tube Screamer TS808 for that classic blues grit.
Distortion: Middle and rear pickups with my Vemuram Las Lunas distortion pedal to see how these picks handle high gain.

4) Bone (Cow Bone)
5) Horn
6) 4mm Thick "Modores" Pick
