As I continued finishing our basement, I started noticing something...
A lot of houses in our neighborhood had a radon mitigation system installed. Then I realized many of the recently sold homes had one too.
Living in Iowa, a state known for historically high radon levels, I decided I didn't want to take the chance—especially before finishing the basement completely.
In this video, I install a complete radon mitigation system, including:
✅ Connecting to the sealed sump pit
✅ Installing the radon fan and vent piping
✅ Routing the system through the house and above the roofline
✅ Explaining why I chose to install the system before ever taking a radon test
Every homeowner has to decide what's right for their home. This is the decision I made to help protect our family and the investment we've made in finishing this basement.
