I was thinking about moving to the Pro Staff Classic 97, familiar feel, great control. But after testing both I chose the Head Speed Tour instead. This video explains exactly why.
It comes down to one thing: access to depth and pace without losing control. The Pro Staff is a great racquet but it wasn't giving me what I needed against better players. The Speed Tour was.
Now that the racquet is sorted I have a tournament coming up and haven't been doing much. So I used Ace Tennis Coach to build a practice plan around the one thing that needed cleaning up — my backhand.
Ace gave me specific drills and cues. I took those onto the court over two sessions and this is what that looked like.
What we worked on:
* Backhands from the middle of the court
* Crosscourt backhand exchanges — earning the down the line
* Return depth game — you only score if the ball lands past the service line
