I've been keeping travel journals for over 30 years — and the difference between those trips and the ones I didn't document is not even close. A sketchbook doesn't just record where you went. It records how it felt to be there.
In this video I'll show you pages from several trips to Paris, talk about why photographs almost never do the job a journal does, and explain what I think is actually happening when you draw your way through a trip.
