Just Have a Think | Why HYDROGEN for home heating is a REALLY DUMB idea. @JustHaveaThink | Uploaded October 2024 | Updated October 2024, 3 hours ago.
Hydrogen is an extremely useful element here on earth. We use it for all sorts of essential chemical processes. But we don't tend to burn it as a fuel, because it's already made from a fuel - methane, in a process that releases more carbon dioxide than simply burning the methane itself. Canadian petrochemical expert Paul Martin recently co-wrote a peer-reviewed paper examining why filling existing gas pipelines with hydrogen is a very bad idea indeed, and this week we talk to him about his findings.
