Everyone says Hollywood is out of ideas, but I don’t think that’s the real problem.
Writers and directors want to tell original stories. The issue is that studios and audiences have become incredibly risk-averse, which is why IP, sequels, remakes, and franchises keep dominating the marketplace.
So why does horror keep producing original hits like The Substance and Sinners? Because horror has a built-in audience, cheaper budgets, and fans who are more willing to show up for something new.
