Some people just have that certain something that makes people trust them, regardless of the real-world evidence to back it up. Probably a combination of factors that tickle a specific part of the brain that makes some more believable than others. Same goes for authority - some people just naturally command a level of respect that others don't get. One of life's more interesting questions, for sure.
