Medlife Crisis | Why do so many living things get the same number of heartbeats? @MedlifeCrisis | Uploaded 5 years ago | Updated 1 hour ago
Mice, whales, dogs, cats...they all get around a billion beats. But why? And what about humans?

Animals (and their hearts) come in all shapes and sizes but a cosmic force appears to unite them, giving the tiny elephant shrew as many heartbeats as the giant elephant. This is what's really going on.

And can understanding the process lead to ways to hack your life expectancy? Does cold make you live longer?

- Dr Rohin Francis

Big thanks to my work buddies and fellow cardiologist-scientists Ven, Ali and Mo for supplying me with tiny hearts and videos.
