Why should we care about guitar pedal aesthetics? What does it matter what color a pedal is or what it *looks* like?

I just got the new limited run Hologram Electronics Special Edition 2024 Microcosm in and thought it would be a fun excuse to tackle this topic and share some of my favorite effects pedal aesthetics and why I think it matters what these guitar pedals look like.
