Royal Armouries | Why disguise this Soviet flamethrower as a rifle? With firearms and weapon expert Jonathan Ferguson @RoyalArmouries | Uploaded January 2023 | Updated October 2024, 2 hours ago.
Since their introduction during the First World War, modern flamethrower operators have been a priority target for marksmen and snipers due to the deadly fuel the weapons unleashes.

This Soviet-made ROKS-2 flamethrower was likely designed to disguise it's true capabilities, resembling more of a rifle design and indeed having a similar buttstock to a Mosin Nagant rifle. Examples of fuel tanks hidden in knapsacks were also prevalent on this type of flamethrower.

Join Jonathan Ferguson as he takes a closer look at this fascinating weapon and even discovers that we've had it configured upside down for a number of years live on camera.
