This clip has been sampled from the docudrama Emiimeline Pankhurt and the Suffragettes and was written by Kate Dunn and produced by produced and directed by Ruth Wood in 2008. It has been uploaded for educational purposes and is suitable for KS3 to KS5. This clip looks at why the Suffragettes began their hungerstrike campaign and why the prison authorities began the force feeding Mary Lee. It should be noted to your students that the King's support for the policy of force feeding the Suffragettes was one of the reasons why Emily Davison targetted the King's horse.
