There has recently been an odd uptick in "how to sound like ___" searches on youtube as well as a general musician marketing tactic that is dangerous to your career. In this rant, I go over why i think there is an emerging mimicry trap for electronic musicians and why you should focus on your own thing as opposed to spending too much time on mimicry.
