Why was the 25th December chosen to celebrate Christmas day? The Festival of Dies Natalis Solis Invicti (The Festival Of The Invincible Sun) Was a Roman festival that celebrated the rebirth of Sun. It was tied together with the Festival of Saturnalia which was held in veneration of the God Saturn, Ruler of the Golden Age and farther of all Romans.
