Why hasn’t the antisemitism emerging in parts of the American right taken hold among British conservatives?

In this clip from my conversation with Miriam Cates, she argues that support for Israel and British Jews remains remarkably strong across the British right—even among conservatives who take hard-line positions on immigration and other cultural issues.

Cates explains why she believes British conservative support for Israel is rooted less in theology and more in shared values, democracy, trade and political pragmatism. She contrasts that with the American right, where evangelical Christianity has historically played a much larger role in support for Israel, and argues that Britain’s foundation may ultimately prove more durable.
