F1's grand plan to fix the flawed 2026 engines for next season could be dashed - which would almost certainly force Max Verstappen to quit for good.

Verstappen has made it clear that F1 must go through with a planned overhaul of its divisive current engines for 2027 for him to stick around but it's currently reached an impasse.

And the key to unlocking the solution is an unlikely one: Audi.
