When you picture a ski resort, you think of escaping the hustle and bustle—but that’s hard to do at @strattonresort . Over the past few years, Stratton’s name and imagery have popped up on posters and ads across nearly every commercial area in the New York City metro region.
Stratton is a fairly large ski resort by Vermont standards, but what happens when a mountain gets marketed to this many people? Why is Stratton so heavily advertised? It all comes down to ownership. Stratton is owned by Alterra Mountain Company, which operates 16 ski resorts across North America. Among them, Stratton is the closest to most major Northeast cities.
What about Wyndham or Camelback, which are even closer to some urban centers? While those mountains are part of Alterra’s pass network, Alterra doesn’t actually own them—they're simply partners through access agreements.
