While Tolkien’s portrait of evil is often misunderstood because of thr dominance of poor teaching on the subject, his portrait of goodness is no less misunderstood.

This lecture addresses the clear moral position of Tolkien’s heroes and distinguishes it from the pragmatism and moral relativism of our culture.

Most of this is taken directly from Peter Kreeft’s superb discussion in The Philosophy of Tolkien.
