The UK had its warmest day of the year so far on Tuesday 30th May, with 25.1C in Porthmadog. Meanwhile, on the same day, it was only a chilly 12.6C in Fylingdales. But why so chilly in the east?
At the moment, high pressure is sitting to the NW of the UK keeping the weather settled. However, this is also bringing a chilly E to NE wind off the North Sea to eastern areas. This is pushing cloud over eastern areas, keeping them chilly compared to the sunny west.
