In the Furry fandom, you get to create the character you play, rather than being the identity you were given at birth. But furries are stigmatized by the public, and have historically been misunderstood by the media. So how do furries protect each other? In this episode of Subcultured, host Josef Lorenzo meets with furries in New York and virtual reality, to find out what it means to be a furry. Later we talk to Dr. Sharon Roberts from the Furscience project to better understand how furries protect each other.

A previous version of this video contained a graph with incorrect demographic data. The video has been updated to reflect the accurate percentages.
