Black holes are often thought of as cosmic vacuum cleaners, but research shows that they may resemble a toddler more than a vacuum. Of all the gas that falls towards black holes, a lot of that gets spewed back out into space, making black holes seem less like a vacuum cleaner, and more like a toddler whose food ends up mostly on the floor rather than his mouth.
