Kings and Generals animated historical documentary series on the early modern history and history of the United States of America, continues with a new series on the War of 1812. Previously, we have covered the American Revolution - the War of American Independence (youtube.com/watch?v=_5_jkn_ODCM&list=PLaBYW76inbX6qMQ2CfpU0TUTxW3-D00nU) and the beginning of the Civil War (youtu.be/2mUdKi0L6XQ). In the first video of the series we are discussing why the War of 1812 erupted: borders, trade warfare, impressment, Tecumseh, and politics that pushed America into conflict (youtu.be/ALqzLAjT9WU). This episode explores the disastrous opening year of the War of 1812. While American leaders like Thomas Jefferson predicted the conquest of Canada would be a "mere matter of marching," the reality was far grimmer.
