Fun fact I have two MAP parts with this song. It’s such a good song and I’m a huge fan of the Heartstopper web series and the show on Netflix. I think it’s pretty accurate with how hard it can be for a young person to struggle with their sexuality.
I usually don’t like putting personal or deep stuff like this out there unless I’m really proud of it, but this map part helped me move on with a lot of conflicting feelings about Highschool. Aka. Being queer in Highschool was not fun for me. around Sophomore year I started having conflicting feelings about myself and kept trying to tell myself I wasn’t gay. A few weeks before my school shut down because of Covid, I took the infamous “are you gay test”. I got 72% and cried that night😍😍😍😍. I kept shoving those feelings off to the side until I gradually started accepting myself more. My senior year is when I finally felt comfortable being out as a lesbian at school. I’m not out at home yet so it was a way to be myself and interact with people like me. However, I got many comments like “well, you just need to find the right guy” and “what you like girls or something?” and the fan favorite “im fine that ur gay, just don’t have a crush on me”. It hurt at first, for sure, and it didn’t help with my comphet, but now looking back, it makes me more confident. So basically this part was my experience being gay through highschool
