Not all aftermarket carburetors are built to the same standard — and this is a perfect example why.

In this Short, I compare main jet protrusion into the venturi between a genuine OEM carburetor and another aftermarket clone.

One clone I inspected had its main jet protruding further into the venturi than the OEM equivalent and other aftermarket carbs. That small difference can affect:

fuel metering

airflow

throttle response

consistency between carbs

This shows the real issue with aftermarket carbs:
they’re made by different manufacturers, to different tolerances and standards, even when they look identical from the outside.

That doesn’t mean all clones are bad — but it does explain why performance and reliability can vary so much from one to the next.

This isn’t brand bias — it’s about manufacturing consistency.
