This wasn't scripted, so i'm sorry if I tangent. I'm just so upset that this was ruined.
We were at Slammedenuff Gatlinburg. We saw it firsthand. So yeah, my feisty response 30 minutes after the news felt warranted. If you want the full story, press play and read on.
Slammedenuff Gatlinburg grew fast. What started as a smaller show exploded over the last few years, and it was clear a problem would eventually show up. In 2023, cracks started to appear, but most of the community kept it in check.
In 2024, Slammedenuff made a significant donation to the city and county to help storm victims. I can’t help but feel that’s part of why the city accepted the 2025 permit.
Still, the writing was on the wall this year. TikTok accounts with no real interest in cars started hyping their attendance. Entertainment influencers showed up to farm views. In some spots, there weren’t even cars. Just a bunch of kids with hairbrush mics chasing the next viral clip.
Jimmy’s became the epicenter, but the whole weekend had people from all corners acting selfishly for attention. Meanwhile, the city was already tightening up. Brick lots were closed. Police presence ramped up. Zero tolerance for “damage” from modified cars. Part of me thinks they knew exactly what would happen and did it anyway to justify a shutdown. I can’t prove that, but it felt like it.
As I post this, the same people who helped cause the shutdown are using their platforms to justify it. They’re acting like it’s fine to celebrate small brands losing tens of thousands of dollars and draining savings because the show was canceled. Like a 4,600-view video is equal to someone who spent months finishing their build for the Sunday showcase. It’s gross. It’s selfish. They should feel bad. Don’t feed it. Don’t watch, don’t argue. That’s what they want. Let them fade out, because they helped kill one of the few great shows in the U.S., and this is just the beginning.
SEMA is fighting to keep things like this alive. Tracks, drag strips, meets, and more are already dwindling because of city overreach. When weekends like this go sideways, the cities get their reason, and we have no one to blame but ourselves.
