July is honestly one of our favourite months to experience Iceland — here's why 👇
☀️ DAYLIGHT
18 to 21 hours of it. July sits just after the summer solstice, which means the sky never really gets dark. Pro tip: pack a sleeping mask, or you might not sleep at all 😄
🌦️ WEATHER
Mild, unpredictable, and very Icelandic. Expect temperatures between 9–15°C (48–59°F) with sunshine, rain, and wind often showing up on the same day. Layers are non-negotiable!
🎒 PACKING
Think windproof and waterproof on top, wool or fleece underneath, and fast-drying everything. Add a beanie, gloves, and woolen socks — yes, in July — plus sturdy waterproof boots. And don't forget your bathing suit, sunglasses, and sunscreen!
🏔️ ACTIVITIES
This is where July really shines. Hike, camp, go puffin spotting or whale watching, kayak, snorkel, walk on a glacier, or float among icebergs in a glacier lagoon. End the day with a midnight sun horse ride or buggy tour, then soak it all in at a hot spring, pool, or geothermal lagoon 🧖
