British MP Jeremy Corbyn reflects on Zohran Mamdani’s recent video statement on the arrest of Benjamin Netanyahu, describing the message as “very powerful” and something he “has not seen before”.
He pointed to the case of Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet, who was arrested in the UK after a Spanish judge issued an international arrest warrant for crimes against humanity, arguing that legal avenues for accountability can exist beyond being a signatory to the Rome Statute.
“Something tells me that it would be perfectly possible to make an argument to a US court on the basis that this man has committed crimes against humanity should he show up in the USA.”
