The Augustan Age was a period during the first half of the 18th century in England. Poets like ohn Dryden and Alexander Pope created verse inspired by authors like Virgil and Ovid from Augustan Rome, and drew on cultural events under the returning reign of Charles II to inspire their work more than ever before, such as The Great Fire of London.
