Today we wanted to ask a simple but fascinating question in Star Wars history: if Yoda had stepped down as Jedi Grandmaster during the Clone Wars, who truly would have been the best replacement? In this video, we break down the strengths and failures of three of the greatest Jedi Masters of the era: Mace Windu, Shaak Ti, and Plo Koon. From Windu’s uncompromising resolve and growing radicalism, to Shaak Ti’s compassion and tragic lack of intuition, to Plo Koon’s balance of wisdom, morality, and strength, each candidate represents a completely different future for the Jedi Order during its darkest days. We also explore how the Clone Wars, Darth Sidious, and the corruption of the Republic pushed even the wisest Jedi toward impossible decisions, and why one of these Masters may have given the Jedi their best chance at survival.
