For years, I let my husband & business manager handle our finances. Even though we built our business together, I never looked at the accounts. I didn’t know exactly what was coming in, what was going out, or where our money actually was. I loved making money. I was terrified of managing it. Then my marriage ended. Suddenly, there was no one else to blame, no one else to ask, and no one else paying the bills. I forgot payments. My water got shut off. I had to learn financial literacy from the ground up… at one of the lowest points of my life. I know I’m not the only woman who’s handed over financial power because it felt easier, less scary, or “someone else’s job.” I wrote about all of it… the mistakes, the shame, and the freedom that came from finally taking ownership of every part of my life, including my money.
