Generations later, Larz and Isabel Anderson inherited massive wealth, but Lars dedicated his adult life to public service as a diplomat. His incredible career included working in London under Robert Todd Lincoln, serving as minister to Belgium, and becoming the U.S. Ambassador to Japan just before World War I.
