![Emma Cruises Spent 7 Days in The Best Balcony Cabin at Sea

Iāve been cruising for years and have stayed in balcony cabins on Norwegians cruise ships in the past so when I boarded Norwegian Prima and found my cabin, I thought I knew what to expect.

When I first walked into the room though I genuinely had to check the deck plans to make sure that I had been assigned the standard balcony cabin that I had booked. The cabin felt so bright and open and spacious, and Iāve stayed in mini-suites on other ships in the past that felt far smaller than this.
I stayed in cabin 13730 right in the middle of deck 13 and I can confirm, this is the standard balcony.
The first thing that I noticed was this incredible mural on the wall behind the bed, it would be quite difficult to miss that one. I loved the subtle uplighting and the butterfly design, this is the same in all of the cabins across all of the cabin grades.
Little did I know that I would find small things that surprised me in every corner of the cabin, from the wardrobes to the bathroom, there were things Iād not seen on cruises before.
I noticed a big sofa complete with cushions and a desk on the other side of the room. Here I found the first of the big drawers which I affectionately named my bits and bobs drawer. Iām pretty sure thats a British phrase but Iām sure you get the idea, itās the same as saying odds and ends. A drawer that is perfect for all of those everything things like chargers and hairbrushes that usually end up cluttering up the cabin. This drawer was huge and as I tested it out I noticed that it was soft close. A-mazing.
Moving further into the cabin I noticed that there was a LOT of space under the bed. Iām a big fan of putting my suitcase under here so I can tidy away my dirty clothes throughout the cruise and this was fantastic for that.
At one point I did test out the space under the bed and I could quite happily sleep down here if I wanted to. When I shared this photo online I had quite a few comments that said āI wouldnāt go down there, think of the dustā well Iām happy to report that this cabin was spotlessly clean and having been under the bed, I think Iām more qualified to talk about that than most. I wanted my review to be thorough!

Iāve just disembarked a cruise on Norwegian Prima where I took a journey through food that included some seriously impressive cruise ship tech and some immersive dining experiences that I will never forget.
I even tested a few new cruise food concepts along the way that Iāve never seen before on a ship, or on land for that matter.
If youd like to find out what the rest of the ship is like, including the spa, adult-only area, and music venues, check out my full ship tour video on my YouTube channel. YouTube.com/EmmaCruises.

When we embarked Norwegian Prima in New York City we headed straight to the biggest main dining room onboard, Hudsonās. Hudsonās is a complimentary restaurant meaning that everything here is included and the food is totally unlimited, Iāve been cruising with Norwegian since I was a child and I always loved going to the main dining room for lunch or dinner.
You could, in theory, eat here for every meal of the cruise but as there are lots of other options so I wouldnāt recommend just eating in one place for an entire cruise.
The restaurant has these amazing floor-to-ceiling windows that wrap right way around the sides meaning that whether youāre in a port or at sea, you always have a great view. I loved the design of the restaurant including these light fittings that I think look like butterflies that flutter slightly when the ships at sea.
The service was good, there was lots of choice on some of the biggest menus Iāve ever seen and we would end up visiting Hudsonās again for both breakfast and dinner during the cruise. There is a second main dining room restaurant onboard too which is a great option if Hudsonās is busy but we always picked Hudsonās because of the amazing views and we never had to wait for a table as the restaurant is massive.
One of my favourite things about cruising with Norwegian has always been the freestyle dining, which means that there are no set dining times for the main dining rooms and you just show up to eat when youāre hungry.
As well as the included main dining room there is included food in the buffet, the local and my personal favourite the indulge food hall but more about that later.
This video is just one part of a 5 part series, so I look forward to seeing you in the next video!

On my last cruise, I conquered the fear of heights by plunging down a 10-storey slide. I challenged the fear of speed racing around a three-story go-kart track in the middle of the ocean and some of the things that I did were both very high and very fast. Iām not sure what fear I was conquering here but Iām glad I gave it a go.
As soon as I embarked Norwegian Prima I noticed these slides on the side, itās hard to miss them as they twist around each other and go down 10 decks off the side of the ship. Thats almost 95 ft or 29 metres on top of however high up deck 8 is against sea level, that is SERIOUSLY high up. Standing at the bottom made it feel even higher too but I knew I had to give it a go during this cruise.
If youd like to find out what the rest of the ship is like, including the spa, adult-only area, and music venues, check out my full ship tour video on my YouTube channel. YouTube.com/EmmaCruises.

I waited until our ship reached Bermuda before I decided to brave the slides. I was relieved to see that this slide was the type where you slide down in a little bag, I donāt go on slides very often but I remember going on them as a kid and the ones in the bag were always more comfortable.
Pulling myself into the slide and into this wall of darkness was scary but the bit at the top was probably the fastest. Itās impossible to really work out where you are in the slide so I just laid back and watched the top of the slide go by, it was quite peaceful really and didnāt take too long. The idea is that you would race somebody else down the side but I went alone so Iām going to say that I won that race!
This slide had given me some confidence but I knew this was absolutely the easiest slide on the ship which was why I decided to start here. Also on my slide to-do list was the drop slide where the floor falls out below you and a huge waterslide called the wave where you slide up and around this part thats kind of like a halfpipe.
Right beside the entrance to the rush slide that Iād just completed was the entrance to the go-kart track. I honestly wasnāt too nervous about this at this point, I thought to myself, how scary can it be to go on go-karts on a cruise ship? They must be like bumper cars going round and round in circles. Spoiler alert. They were not.
This video is just one part of a 5 part series, so I look forward to seeing you in the next video!
