We only learn a certain amount of history and the way it's portrayed, you know, that America was always the victor, and always, you know, was doing what was right for everybody, you know. The way we are portrayed, the way our education we are educated through, history and through other, you know" (were those even sentences?) says this "whiteness history month" presenter at Portland Community College. Another person says "it shapes how everyone views themselves, not just white people. Colorism, (???) people of color, reflects whiteness. The fact that people with lighter skin tones are given priority and special treatment within communities of color reflects that whiteness as the ideal."
