White sage (Salvia apiana) seeds germinating. After exposure to water, they formed a mucilage coating (sage seed gum) within a couple of hours (see 5-6;00 sec). After transferring to pots, the indoor sprouts under grow lights grew quickly were leggy compared with those grown outdoors.
