as I was making my main channel video about disco elysium, i wrote the thought "white mourning" into the script, as i think it's one of the most beautiful pieces of writing in the game. once i got to editing however, i came to find that White Mourning is the only thought in the whole game which is not voiced. It's just text.
the only logical solution to this was ofc to reach out to mr Lenval Brown (the narrator of disco elysium) and pay him to read it in for me. thus, i'm happy to present the only (as far as i know) recorded version of White Mourning.
Lenval was very accommodating, gave me a few different takes of each line, and charged very fairly for his time. this video is the edited down version of the audio he sent. I might have gone a little bit overboard with the compressor at some points, and i know the pacing is a bit slower than most of the thoughts in the game, but for emphasis in my edit i needed longer breaks, and i cant be bothered to re-edit it. i considered uploading the un-edited audio aswell, but decided that it feels a little unprofessional so you'll have to make do with this.
obviously i dont own the written words, nor lenvals voice, and i dont know how copyright works, but if you'd like to use this audio for anything, feel free. i wont be doing any content ID strikes or whatever. please tag me or leave a comment though, i'd love to see it!
