The Naruto whirlpools are tidal whirlpools in the Naruto Strait, a channel between Naruto in Shikoku and Awaji Island Japan.
The whirlpools can be observed from tour boats or from a suspended walkway under the Ōnaruto Bridge known as Uzu no Michi.
The strait between Naruto and Awaji island has a width of about 1.3 km and separates Honshū and Shikoku, two of the main islands of Japan. The Onaruto bridge provides a connection between the 2 islands. The whirlpools are under the bridge and are caused by changing tides.
