Over the last few years, I’ve made it a goal of mine to review every single Assassin’s Creed game, or at least, all the major entries. Now that I have met that goal, after covering Shadows, even if it took 4 years, I am now finally going to answer the question; what Assassin’s Creed game is the best? There's a lot of entries to this series and more importantly they are all so different that, unlike other ranking videos, I can't jump into this without laying down some criteria and ground rules. The most important thing is that I am ranking these games based on how much fun I had with them; factoring in how often I replay it, how well I think the game as a whole holds up under scrutiny, and looking at how likely I am to recommend it to people. I will not be comparing and ranking these games based on how good of an Assassin’s Creed game they are because, as I’ve said many times across these videos, it’s impossible to nail down exactly what Assassin’s Creed is, as it’s evolved so much over its nearly two decade lifetime. Another thing to mention is that I will not be ranking these by number as I often do for two reasons. The first is that, again they are all so different so placing them relative to one another will be an issue, and second is that, whatever game is at the bottom is seen as being bad. When I did my Arkham ranking video and placed Asylum near the bottom, people assumed it was because it’s bad, and the truth is, the Arkham quadrilogy are all excellent in their own right, as is the Assassin’s Creed Series, so that is why we will be ranking the games using a tier list. We’ll be ranking the games in order of release and covering most of the games. Maybe not the mobile or handheld games, but all the ones playable on home consoles. I need to mention that this is coming from a fan of the series, and I know calling myself a fan invokes thoughts of a rabid animal ready to rip apart anyone who doesn’t like my beloved Ezio; but I consider myself a fan because I love this series, in all its forms, and while I have my favourites, there is only one game in the series I think is outright bad, and the rest are either average or above average, most being great, and some being the best. So let’s start off on a good note with the game that started it all. Strap in, folks, it’s gonna be a long one. Also, I am going to be relatively skimming across these games, so if you want to see a more in depth explanation, feel free to check my in depth critique of all these games, the playlist will be linked below.
