What makes SAT Reading tricky is that the usual ways we engage with texts -- personal reactions, drawing connections, creative speculation -- are entirely unhelpful for answering questions. Instead, we need to read more like a lawyer or detective -- what evidence in the text supports the choices? And which choices are unsupported by the evidence, are contradicted by the evidence, or go too far beyond the evidence in the text?
