Breaking Trails is a series from the GORE-TEX Brand following pairs of inspiring individuals as they forge paths and form connections in the outdoors. Each episode sees two remarkable life journeys intersect on a physical trail, where our duo learn from each other’s experiences and find common ground despite their differences.
In this episode, alpinist and researcher Maud Vanpoulle teams up with fellow alpinist and extreme skier Tom Lafaille to embark on a high-altitude expedition deep in the heart of the Mont Blanc massif, a mountain range in the Alps. As they ascend up to 3,462 meters—protected by next-generation GORE-TEX PRO Products—the pair reflect on their personal journeys to finding purpose in the mountains, the losses they’ve experienced along the way, and how they navigate the risk and reward of pushing their limits in the most demanding environments.
